Application deadline is end of day Monday, March 31, 2025
When does the competition take place?
The competition takes place Saturday, April 26 from 12pm - 9pm. Players eliminated during the games will be able to leave early.
Where does the competition take place?
Top of the Class will take place on the Calvin University campus.
Who is able to apply to compete?
Any Calvin student who is actively enrolled (full time or part time) during the 2024-2025 academic year.
Can international students apply?
Yes, international students may participate. The award is issued as a scholarship and so is receivable by all students.
Can seniors apply (who have already paid for their tuition with loans or out of pocket)?
Students who have already paid out-of-pocket for their tuition can receive a refund relative to the scholarship amount. For example, a senior who has taken out $15,000 in loans and has already paid it to Calvin for tuition, would be eligible to receive $10,000 as a refund if they won.
Do I need to prepare anything ahead of time?
Nope - if you're selected, all you need to do is show up. Participants will enter the competition with no prior knowledge of the games.
What type of games will be played?
Top of the Class is structured as a series of competitive games. Each game will eliminate additional players until only one player remains. Games are collegiately-themed and lean into a combination of physical ability, academic skill, and elements of chance. Games will be similar to those seen on Beast Games or Survivor.
Where will Top of the Class be released?
Top of the Class will be released on either YouTube or one of the streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime or Netflix. It is being produced by Noble Story Co.
When will Top of the Class be released?
The release date is not yet specified.
Will the show make me look like a jerk?
Top of the Class aims to differentiate itself from other shows in the genre (Beast Games, Survivor, etc) by prioritizing skill, collaboration, and team-based competition. While participants may choose to play in a less honorable way, the competition is designed so that sabotage and direct manipulation are not encouraged as core strategies.
What if I already have my college tuition fully funded?
That's a great problem to have! If this is your situation, this competition isn't for you. Pass this along to a friend who needs it.
Who can I contact with additional questions?
